Since 1997 the radio network has grown to approximately twenty affiliate stations statewide. The radio network boasts a coverage area large enough to carry the Ducks to 95% of Oregon's population.

The anchor of the radio play-by-play for Football, Men's Basketball, and Baseball is veteran announcer Jerry Allen, who has been 'the voice of the Ducks,' since OSN's inception. During football Jerry is joined by two former ducks, quarterback Mike Jorgensen and Portland-based 95.5 'The Game's' Jay Allen.
During men's basketball, Jerry takes to court alone for the men's basketball season. Terry Jonz adds talent to our radio crew by providing our women's basketball play-by-play.
Finally, Brian Prawitz joins Jerry Allen in making the call for baseball. He has much experience calling baseball in Seattle during the M's 116 win season, and won the 2003 Sportscaster of the Year.
KUGN's History as 'The Duck Station' KUGN-AM 590 has been the cornerstone of the Oregon Sports Network for the better part of six decades.
With the exception of a few years in the late '80s and early '90s, KUGN has been the flagship station of the Oregon Sports Network since 1957.
At that time, KUGN became the first flagship station of the University of Oregon sports radio network, with play-by-play announcer John Tasnady serving five seasons as the 'Voice of the Ducks.'
KUGN Morning Show host Wendy Ray, a veteran sportscaster, took the microphone in 1962 and called Duck football and basketball until the end of the 1969 football season. Ray, who also served as public address announcer for Oregon track and field meets, returned for one season (1974-75) as KUGN's football and basketball announcer.
Other KUGN 'voices' of University of Oregon sports were Mike Guldager (1969-73), Bud Sobel (1973-74), Ralph Petti (football, 1975), Mike Stone (1975-80), Warren Swain (1980-82), Bill Johnson (1982-84) and Hal Ramey (1984-87).
Current 'Voice of the Ducks' Jerry Allen took the play-by-play reins in 1987. Jerry hosted the KUGN Morning News for nearly 20 years, before accepting full-time employment with the University of Oregon in winter of 2009. He can still be heard on KUGN for Duck sports events, as well as his daily internet show that is rebroadcast weekdays at 6 p.m.
Today, KUGN airs UO football and men's basketball. While UO baseball and women's basketball air on KUGN's sister station, 95.3 The Score, KUGN offers in-depth coverage of all Duck sports events.
