Algae Bloom Limits Use of Diamond Lake

7/15 Toxic blue-green algae on Diamond Lake has prompted a health advisory
JULY 15, 2010 -- A health advisory has been issued for a popular lake in Douglas County - high algae levels have been found in Diamond Lake, located seven miles north of Crater Lake National Park on Highway 138. This is Jennifer Ketterman, Program Coordinator for the Harmful Algae Bloom Program with Oregon Public Health –

Ketterman says pets are most vulnerable to algae blooms. Last year a dog died after ingesting water at an Oregon lake that had high levels of algae -

The public will be advised when the concern no longer exists.
