Roseburg Teen Arrested for Death of Girl

7/9 A teenager has been arrested following the death of a 5-year old girl
JULY 9, 2010 -- (KQEN-AM Roseburg) Roseburg Police have made an arrest following the death of a five year old Roseburg girl early this morning. Sgt. Aaron Dunbar of the Roseburg PD was live on News Radio 1240 KQEN when the news broke.

Police responded to the duplex on West Elaine just before 5 a.m. A report to 911 indicated the girl was unconscious and not breathing. Attempts to revive the child were not successful and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim, a younger child, the victim’s mother, the mother’s boy friend, and the 16 year boy who has been charged in the case were staying at the home, according to police. Dustin Wallace is the son of the mother’s boyfriend.

Dunbar says work on the case is continuing this afternoon and into the weekend.

Given the nature of the case the Roseburg Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time. Wallace is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
