'Headwinds' Slow Oregon's Economy in May

7/8 UO economist Tim Duy says the state still has a long road ahead to recovery
JULY 8, 2010 -- Oregon’s economic recovery hit a bit of a snag in May. Economist Tim Duy compiles the University of Oregon’s Index of Economic Indicators.

Some of the indicators show weak job growth during the month of May.

Also fewer residential building permits.

Duy says it’s premature to say if a double-dip recession is imminent based on a one-month decline. But he says the drop is consistent with concerns that the pace of recovery would slow in the second half of this year.
