2 Accidents Claim Lives Over 4th Weekend

7/7 4th of July is the deadliest weekend on Oregon highways
JULY 7, 2010 -- The Fourth of July Holiday is the deadliest major holiday of the year in Oregon.

A preliminary report from the Oregon State Police shows that 2 people died in two separate traffic crashes between Friday evening and Monday night. OSP says this year’s two known fatalities matches last year’s number.

This year’s crashes happened on the 3rd of July on Hwy. 97 about six miles south of Bend and the other on the night of the 4th in Columbia County near Vernonia.
