Man Dies Trying to Save Dog near Lincoln City
February 15, 2010 -- A Lake Oswego man lost his life yesterday morning when he was swept into the ocean while trying to save his dog. Seventy-two-year-old Bill Davis was pulled in to the Pacific Ocean by a wave off a Lincoln City-area beach.

Davis went into the water to try to rescue his dog, which was pulled in the ocean during a game of fetch. A rescue swimmer and members of North Lincoln Fire and Rescue pulled Davis out of the water, but he was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The dog was able to make it back to shore safely.
