Human Remains Wash Up on Yachats Beach
December 14, 2009 - PRESS RELEASE:Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Lincoln County Medical Examiner, is investigating the Sunday afternoon discovery of the partial remains of an unidentified body found on the beach in Yachats.

According to OSP Sergeant Justin McGladrey, on December 13, 2009 at about 3:30 p.m. a citizen walking on the beach in Yachats reported finding the partial remains of a body that appeared to have been in the ocean before washing ashore. OSP troopers and Yachats Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.

The remains were found about one mile north of where another body was found December 3rd in the surf line near Smelt Sands State Park. That body was positively identified five days later by the OSP Forensic Services Division as WILLIAM ARTHUR BODEWIG, age 62, from Yachats. BODEWIG was one of two men reported missing November 18th after they failed to return from a local fishing trip between Yachats and Heceta Head. The second man remains missing.

No other information to be released pending positive identification.
