EPD Warns of Holiday Thefts on Campus

EPD Warns of Holiday Thefts on Campus
December 7, 2009 - Winter break is right around the corner and for most students at the University of Oregon that means leaving their currently rented apartments unattended for several weeks. And that’s the perfect scenario for burglars.

Eugene police report from 2007 to 2008 there was a 223-percent increase in residential burglaries and more than a 17-percent increase in theft from vehicles in the West/South University areas.

In response to these crimes the Eugene Police Crime Prevention Unit is setting up a mobile station event at the U of O bookstore at 13th and Kincaid today thru Wednesday this week from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

The Unit will provide information and materials related to property crime prevention. Property crime prevention flyers are also being distributed to property managers in the West University area for distribution to their residents.
