Rescuers Search for Missing Fishermen

Rescuers Continue to Search for Missing Fishermen
November 20, 2009 - Two fishermen have been missing near Yachats since last night. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office was notified of two overdue subjects shortly after 10pm Thursday.

Both men, one 62 and the other 24 years old, are reported to have been fishing from the shoreline in the area. A vehicle belonging to one of the missing persons has been located close to the area, about eight miles south of Yachats, where they were reported to have been fishing.

Over night stormy weather conditions with high winds caused beach access to be very limited. The Coast Guard has flown the area and has not located the two subjects. Lane County Search and Rescue members are in the area with a ground crew and are continuing the search.

Names are not being released at this time and there is no other information available.
