Former Westfir Official Arrested for Embezzling

11/10 Former Westfir City Recorder allegedly stole $11,000 from city coffers
November 10, 2009 - A former Westfir City Recorder has been arrested for allegedly embezzling 11-thousand dollars. Oakridge Police Department reports 54-year old Elizabeth Louise Murray was arrested for Aggravated Theft I, Official Misconduct, Theft I, Forgery I and Possession of a Forged Instrument.

During an internal audit, irregularities were discovered in the general ledger. Murray was the City Recorder for approximately 14 years but left the position in May of 2009. The case has been forwarded to the Office of the Lane County District Attorney for prosecution.
